I always wished to write something about my college but never pushed myself to the extent where I can actually pen down as to what I feel.
8th August 2005 was the day when I stepped into the the campus of PUNJAB COLLEGE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION. Cloudy yet you can see the sun. Hundred new faces, unknown place and I was 1600 Kilometers away from home. Felt as in I was in a "New world" altogether. With each step forward, my prayers become audible. Yes, I was nervous and scared because I was late. I had joined after 6 days.
I repetitively asked only one question to myself, "How will I survive here?" Promises made to my parents gave me enough and more strength to answer every question that haunted me. I entered my college director's cabin. The smile on his face helped me relieve some of my nervousness. A flood of questions had captivated my mind. I became senseless. I gathered all my senses when a loud voice asked me "Whats your Application Number?"
I was dumbfounded for a moment. The nostalgia of my hometown school had taken me too far from the reality. "8039 !!" thats the only number which I had memorized on my way to college. My director referred to a huge list in front of him and called on the office boy to escort me to my classroom. My classroom was on second floor. Things were very different from school.There were Lecture Room instead of Class room and professors and lecturers replaced teachers. I witnessed a paradigm shift in the way of teaching. Black boards were replaced by projector screens. Power-point presentations or transparencies were the only means through which the lecturers taught us. Books were only confined to the four walls which we commonly know as the LIBRARY.
I missed my school. I wished I could ask God to give an opportunity to become a child again. I knew there were many challenges awaiting me ahead. I entered my classroom.
